Consortium statement regarding new play area

E-mail Print PDF

The consortium accept entirely that any lighting deficiencies or remedial works perceived by residents to be a contributory factor in causing anti social behaviour will be addressed via the detailed completion schedule plan presented to the residents committee.

The provision of the play area is a fundamental requirement of the planning approval, and has been long before the complainants purchased their properties. Its position and specification are found on all approved drawings which were available on public record for legal searches conducted on behalf of purchasers by their own solicitors. If they were not notified of this, that is regrettable but it does not in any way change our requirement to implement the approved play area in accordance with the longstanding design intentions of the estate.

We are sorry that this has come as a surprise to certain residents and can confirm that no consultation was required as we are simply implementing the play area in full accordance with the planning approval. We appreciate that all communal areas whether equipped or not can give rise to anti social behaviour however this is a police matter albeit we will ensure it is built in accordance with approved details with necessary fencing / lighting etc.
